Tanzania (2012)

Solar Without Frontiers has been committed to installing a solar photovoltaic system in Mvimwa Abbey School, in Tanzania in association with Glenstal Abbey, Co. Limerick. Volunteers from Solar Without Frontiers will travel to Mvimwa in September to do the installation. The School of 400 students is located in an extremely remote place with no immediate source of energy. The only viable on would be solar. A photovoltaic system has been designed and proccured but it has to be installed. Click here to read more.

Malawi (2012)

Two volunteers of SWF-Team will be flying to Malawi this September to install a PV on the Mulanji Mission Hospital (MMH) in Malawi. Mulanje Mission Hospital (MMH) is a 220 bedded hospital which provides a full range of medical, surgical and pediatric services, and, with the adjacent College of Nursing. Click here to read more.

Tanzania (2011)

Two volunteers from SWF went in March 2011 to Hanga Abbey, Tanzania to install a photovoltaic system, which was funded by Glenstal Abbey, to power a computer lab for students for the Hanga Abbey school in Songea. It was a huge commitment to go out there and install the solar system with little technical back up especially as time was very limitet too. The trip lasted two weeks, which was just enough time to finish the installation. Click here to read more.

Kenya (2009)

Project with Self Help Africa

In April 2009 Solar Without Frontiers sent 6 solar lights to a small village called Gilgil in Kenya’s Nakuru district. The project in Gilgil is run by Self Help Africa, who sent volunteers from Mc Egan College in Macroom, a local secondary school, together with other Irish students, into the village to help in their agricultural program.
